Grace and Mary by Melvyn Bragg

Amy Grace and Mary I read Grace and Mary for an online course on literature and mental illness. It’s a very quiet novel about a man in his seventies, trying to make his mother’s last years happy. Mary has dementia and her son takes her back to her past. It’s about ageing, loss, love and social expectations. It is quiet, but says some powerful things about ageing and the power of literature.
