Try to read this in bed! Black and white pictures tell one story, text tells another, and towards the end these blend to become one. I am a huge fan of Brian Selznick’s unique way to tell stories. Surprisingly, without realising what was happening, the pictures actually helped me to experience the silent world of Rose and then the text dropped me in and out of Ben’s world of sound. Fifty years apart, Rose and Ben both wish their lives were different and set out alone on desperate quests to find the missing piece to happiness. You will find this in the junior fiction section of one of our libraries.
