Intruder by Christine Bongers

Intruder by Christine BongersTeenager, Kat Jones, is woken by an intruder looming over her bed and when she screams her neighbour, Edwina, comes running. Kat hates Edwina so much that she would rather walk around the block than walk past Edwina’s house. But the intrusion becomes a catalyst for Kat, her father and Edwina to confront the underlying conflict affecting their relationships. Enter her protector Hercules, a deceptively adorable, slobbery pup and Al, who is more than he appears. When author, Christine Bongers saw Intruder on the shortlist for the 2015 CBCA Book of the Year for Older Readers she ‘…burst into tears…Because until I saw it there in such fine company, I didn’t believe that it would be, that it could be …Because there were so many great books. It was such a strong year.’  Although Intruder is not my personal pick to win but if you like Fiona Wood, Cath Crowley or Jaclyn Moriarty, you’ll enjoy this story.
