The book is set in South Africa and the descriptions and language used by Sally Andrew made me imagine the setting brilliantly. The characters are quirky and the story line moves along nicely, with the murderer only revealed towards the end. The mixing of murder, food, friendships and humour worked well. Tannie Maria was a great character, whose love of food invades all aspects of her life. I did have some problems with the South African words, that made me stop and look them up at the beginning of the novel, but once I got into the story I did not find it a problem.
